Introduction

Welcome to the CU*Answers API Portal! Here you can find guides to various processes using our APIs and thorough endpoint documentation.

Guidelines for API Usage

Before using our APIs, please read through our guidelines and standards here.

warning

Failure to maintain these standards while using our APIs may result in loss of access.

General

  • You may not store any part of the authentication process, to include, but not limited to Username, Password, Security Questions or Answers in your application or backend databases or servers.
  • You may not store any Personal or Financial Information in your application or backend databases or servers.
info

These requirements are a security best practice. Our organization does not want any elements of a member's personal or financial information stored within a vendor's servers or in 'the cloud'. Storing this information in such a manner is a vulnerability risk and increases the likelihood of member accounts becoming compromised.

API Access Keys

  • You may not reuse your API Keys between applications or Credit Unions. You will be assigned separate API Access Keys per application you create.
  • You may not share your API Access Key with any other party than yourself.
info

Reusing or combining keys restricts our ability to disable an application in the event a vulnerability or issue is identified. This can also inhibit our ability to accurately track usage for the application and perform trend analysis. Sharing or combining keys could also impact the API's ability to work correctly with the credit union settings.
